The Centre CLARK is an artist-run centre dedicated to the dissemination and production of contemporary art. Founded in 1988 (originally located downtown at the corner of Clark Street), the Centre moved to Gaspé Avenue in 2001. Rooted in the active involvement of its approximately 50 members, the Centre CLARK presents around 10 exhibitions per year, along with a range of public activities and performances. The centre includes two exhibition spaces as well as the Poste audio dedicated to audio works, a book store, a residency space on the 6th floor hosting international artists (notably from Japan, Korea, and Catalonia amongst others), and a woodworking shop known as Atelier CLARK.

The partnership with Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec (CALQ) and Tokyo Arts and Space (TOKAS) began in 2015. Through this program, a Japanese artist spends three months at Centre CLARK in Montreal, while an artist from Québec can spend three months at TOKAS in Tokyo. Each residency provides a dedicated studio and opportunities for professional exchange, supporting artistic development and international visibility. We have welcomed Japanese artists regularly each year since its inception.

Takuya Inoue was welcomed last year at Centre CLARK. During his residency, he presented his work in a studio visit and artist talk. See Takuya Inoue and learn more about the details of his event here .
Takuya Takemoto, the Japanese artist selected for this year, has just arrived at Centre CLARK last week. See Takuya's work here. The date of his studio visit and artist talk event to conclude his residency is to be determined.
